Jen Taroke Hogana

Kolkata Sanved : Trauma, Care and Movement
I did a month long internship at Kolkata Sanved where I taught 8 girls between the ages of 11-16 dance. I worked with them on performance but gained a lot of insight on the work of the body in trauma, building relationships. The work introduced me to the conceptual depth, impact and relevance of body-based work.
Teaching Dance, Social Sector, Collaborative Arts Project
Look At Us
Apprenticing with Natya and STEM Dance Kampni allowed me to teach at Ulsoor. Located at the Dhobi ghats, these dance classes resulted in a music video made to throw light on the talent and capabilities present in the children there. This was in association with Meghshaala and Look At Us.
Ecology, Marine life, Relationship Building
Nature Education
I worked with Gerry Martin, Terra Marine Research Institute, Arocha India and Madras Crocodile Bank in different aspects of ecology, marine biology and herpetology.Â
It gave me extremely strong insights in working with human-animal-nature relationships.Â
It allowed me to critique notions of disembodied,"objective" research and education and develop ways of being and working with nature that are restorative, healing and strengthening.
